Although rooted strongly in hip-hop traditions, his work draws inspiration from old folk music, recognising the common ground shared by songs of the people from any point in history.

Dizraeli has performed at Glastonbury, Latitude, The Eden Project and The Royal Festival Hall among countless others. He has won both the Farrago UK Slam Championships and the BBC Radio 4 Poetry Slam, and written several hip-hop plays including the award winning ‘Rebel Cell’, with Baba Brinkman.

Dizraeli & The Small Gods were shortlisted for the 2014 Songlines Music Awards for their album ‘Moving In the Dark’. Tracks from the album have been played on BBC Radio 2, Radio 3 and 6 Music. Many moons ago, Martin Short had several poems published in anthologies before taking a decade long hiatus from writing. For two years he’s hosted a poetry night in Cleethorpes, and has recently become a regular prize winner at the ATG Slam in Lincoln. His poetry is both personal and political, intermittently injected with a hint of humour. Angry, bitter, cynical, call him what you want, he’s simply a disappointed optimist. He loves language and lots of alliteration. He’s a man of love, yet this love languishes at all the anguish in the world.
