Become a Volunteer

Front of House Volunteering Opportunities

Please note – We are currently experiencing a high number of volunteer applications. So we apologise in advance if you do not hear back from us straight after your application.

Our volunteer ushers are the first point of contact for our audiences and other patrons. They welcome our audiences and other patrons to the theatre, guide them to their seats, look after them during the intervals and as they leave and make sure that their safety and comfort is attended to at all times.

The Theatre offers a very diverse programme of performances and events for all ages to enjoy. This means that being a volunteer usher is not without its challenges, indeed every day can be different. We do provide training, but generally we expect of our volunteer ushers to be outwardly cheerful, enthusiastic, trustworthy and able to remain calm when things get excitable.

If you would like to become a volunteer then we will invite you to an informal ‘orientation visit’ that will enable you to understand more about the volunteer usher role and for us to see if you are a fit for our team.

If everything works out during the ‘orientation visit’, we will invite you back to the Theatre to go through the formal registration process and get you started on the team.

Please note that we currently have a large waiting list of volunteers, so you may have to wait a number of months before the next orientation visit is available. To be added to this waiting list, please email us at foh@ntrlincoln.co.uk.

We look forward to hearing from you.
